Darik's Boot
and Nuke to download software to clean your PCs hard drive before
you donate it to us.
What is Darik's Boot and Nuke?
Darik's Boot and Nuke is a utility that you use when you want to
completely obliterate all your data in all your hard disks and their partitions.
It comes in the form of a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CDROM image
(you download whichever you prefer), complete with an operating system (Linux)
and the Boot and Nuke utility. Once you boot up that floppy (or CDROM), the
utility will proceed to destroy all your data in every partition of every
hard disk. The site says that it is designed for bulk or emergency data
destruction. (It is probably also useful in less dramatic cases, such as
when you want to wipe your disks prior to giving your computer away to someone.)
J & S Computer has created a program designed to help individuals
or companies find new homes for their outdated computer equipment. We refurbish
and then offer your donated equipment to those who may not otherwise have
an opportunity to have a personal computer. Examples being individuals or
organizations helping children, students, recovering addicts, abused women,
or half way houses. trying to teach or help them learn new skills etc. Any
computers or components that can't be refurbished will be responsibly recycled
through a proper recycling facility.
Whether you have several used systems or laptops sitting in the
back room at work, or an old computer or notebook that's been sitting in
your closet. You can drop them off at our shop between 10am and 5pm,
Mon. Through Fri. or give us a call and if we can free somebody up,
we'll get out and pick it up for you! PLEASE
NOTE: We are not a 503C Tax Exempt
organization! Some donors may or may not qualify for tax benifits
for donated equipment. You should consult with your accountant for any tax
write-off advantages. We will write you a reciept for your donation however,
for your accounting purposes.
